Welcome to the debut of my new series: Friday's Functional Five! 🎉
This series aims to bring weekly value to you by sharing five essentials: they might be products, brands, hacks, or tips to enhance your daily lives.
These suggestions are intended to improve ease, efficiency, and organization, catering to a wide range of needs and preferences.
To kick off the series, I'm sharing five products I use that simplify and enhance my life. While some weeks will follow a specific theme, this week I wanted to begin by sharing five items that have made a difference in my efficiency game.
#1 Get sorted App
Are you overwhelmed by the sheer number of photos cluttering your phone? This app, Get Sorted, offers a solution. It efficiently organizes your photos by breaking them down into years and months, allowing you to tackle the task of deleting unnecessary ones with ease. You can start and stop at any point, as the app conveniently remembers where you left off. Plus, you have the flexibility to jump around to specific years or months if you prefer. Instead of mindlessly scrolling through your phone, spend a few moments efficiently managing your photo collection and the volume will go down in no time! This app makes the daunting task of deleting photos feel attainable. Best of all, it offers a free trial, but I found it so useful that I ended up paying the $5 fee.
#2 Branch Basics cleaning products.
About a year ago, I made the switch to Branch Basics for our household cleaning products. Admittedly, I was a bit hesitant at first, as I had found that natural cleaners often lacked effectiveness in the past. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the power and gentleness of the Branch Basics concentrate. In the past, using Windex to clean mirrors would leave my throat feeling scratchy. With Branch Basics, all it takes is one drop of concentrate into a bottle of water, and let me tell you, it outperforms Windex by leaving fewer streaks while cleaning more effectively (especially when paired with microfiber cloths)!
I've even found success using it to clean acrylic makeup containers, which previously never seemed to come out completely clean. Recently, Branch Basics emailed me a list of 21 innovative ways to use their products, further solidifying my confidence in their effectiveness and versatility. If you want to buy less get more out of your cleaning products, I recommend looking into BB!
#3 Wrist cuffs when washing your face.
Are you tired of water running down your arms while washing your face at the sink? These cuffs will revolutionize your face washing routine. By preventing water from dripping down your arms, they keep your pajamas or clothes dry. They're a low-cost investment, and the ones I've linked come in a convenient 3-pack. I personally keep one in my travel bag and rotate the other two for my twice-a-day face washing routine. Now, whenever I forget to use them, I find myself cursing my wet pajama sleeves. Trust me, you won't want to go back once you try them!
#4 Time Cube
Years ago, The Skinny Confidential recommended a time cube on her blog, and I've been using one ever since for tasks and projects I'm not keen on doing. Its effectiveness lies in the fact that it provides a designated endpoint, allowing you to focus solely on the task until the timer goes off. In fact, I even wrote a blog post detailing how I used it to assist with purging items in your closet.
#5 Ovou // digital business card
As I navigate my networking journey, I've come to realize the importance of both paper and digital business cards. While I still appreciate the tangible aspect of a paper card, having a digital counterpart is indispensable. With a digital card, you have the flexibility to update and modify your information as needed. Additionally, certain digital business cards allow you to include links to specific articles, websites, or achievements, providing a more comprehensive overview of your work. What's more, when someone scans your digital card, you have the added benefit of capturing their contact information seamlessly.
